The Last Time

There will be a last time.

The last chemo appointment.
The last feeding.
The last window gaze.
The last cuddle.

You never know when you’re in it. That’s the uncomfortable truth.

In business, we act as if everything can be optimized. Everything can be predicted. Everything can be extended.

But life does not operate on spreadsheets.

The last time will not announce itself.

And when it passes, what will matter will not be performance. It will be whether you were present when it counted.

Charlotte has made me more aware of this than I ever expected.

We assume longevity. We are promised nothing.

Presence is the only hedge.
