Time Is The Most Flattering Thing People Can Give You

One of the things I have reflected on lately is how meaningful it is when someone tells you they have been reading your work. Not just because they liked it. But because they gave it their time.

And time is no small thing.

In business and in life, people can offer compliments, encouragement, introductions, and opportunities. All of those matter. But time is different. Time is finite. Time is valuable. Time is the one thing no one can replenish once it is spent.

That is why I never take it lightly when someone reads a post, considers an idea, or reaches out to say that something resonated with them.

In a crowded world, attention is easy to chase and hard to earn. But genuine time—the decision to stop, read, think, and engage—is one of the most generous things a person can give.

I am grateful for that.

Every person who takes a moment to read something I have written has given me something far more valuable than an algorithm, an impression, or a metric. They have given me a piece of their day. And I do not take that for granted.

Attention can be captured. Time is given. In a distracted world, a few thoughtful minutes from another person is a real form of generosity. The most meaningful audience is not the largest one. It is the one willing to give you its time.
